After a long break of face-to-face meetings, it was finally the time to take part in training course which we were looking forward to for a long time: MADE 4 YOUTH hosted by NGO “Pasaules kultūru telpa Tukumā”.
The training course focused on the improvement of the decision-making process in Youth; during this training the participants learned about new methods of decision making, project management, strategy, strategic thinking, leadership and entrepreneurship. The training hosted 24 participants from 8 different countries (Latvia, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, France, Spain, Slovakia and Cyprus) in Tukums (LATVIA).
Among the given training content through non-formal activities which took place in the first days of the project, the participants then were given the space to present their own ideas about decision making by simulation games, drama and non-formal presentations. The working groups were organized as taking into consideration the nationality, gender and age diversity among the partipants.
One of the things which made "MADE 4 YOUTH" a unique training was for no noubt the venue and the outdoor activities. The organizing team managed to take all participants for biking through the "Ķemeri National Park" which is located in west of the city of Jūrmala, Latvia.
Thanks to this activity, participants had an extra chance to explore the nature of the region as well as getting to know local life and meeting local residents and culture.
The training went on with non-formal activities dedicated to the main topic. The participants / Youth workers were given various tools and methods, by using multicultural dialogue, multidimensional theories, empiric data and non-formal education to then be applied to their youth and communities.
The participants while getting to know Tukums city better, they were invited to visit an old coffee factory which is used as a cultural meeting point, hosting events and concerts. We were lucky to attend there a "Talent Evening" hosted by Radi Tukkumagi as some of the participants showed their own singing talents.
The long story short, MADE 4 YOUTH was a spectacular chance for all of us to learn more about methodologies for decision making, non-formal education, getting to know Latvia and more importantly another chance for new friendships and partnerships for future cooperation.
A big thanks to “Pasaules kultūru telpa Tukumā”, trainers, local people of Tukums, guides who took us around the Latvian nature, people working at the venue and of course all participants that we met!
